Green Mountain High School
After a 5-year career as a massage therapist, Megan returned to school and is graduating this year with her B.S. in biology and a minor in environmental science. She hopes to do outreach for Colorado Parks and Wildlife, or the National Parks Service once she graduates. She loves to spend time doing miscellaneous art projects, singing, gardening, walking her dogs, climbing mountains, and biking to live music shows in her free time.
Aimee is a graduate of Florida State University (Biolgical Science and Environmental Studies) participated in a study abroad course to the Ecuadorian Amazon and spent a spring break volunteering with The Nature Conservancy in Baxley, GA. She is currently pursuing an M.S. in Environmental Science and has an internship at the U.S. Geological Survey contributing to geospatial analysis and representations of scientific data. In her free time, she loves hiking, reading, volunteering and sewing.
Ashley is a junior at UC Denver majoring in biology and minoring in chemistry and psychology. Her short term aims are to go to medical school and long term aims include working for Doctors Without Borders and/or the W.H.O.
Wheat Ridge High School
Laura is currently a senior Mechanical Engineering student at CU Denver. In 2015 she volunteered on a high school hydrogen fuel cell eco car team as a mentor. She is the vice president of the CU Denver chapter of the Society of Women Engineers. Additionally, she completed a summer aerospace internship for the Colorado Space Business Roundtable. Before pursuing an education in engineering, Laura received a degree in Film Production. In her free time she enjoys snowboarding, camping, hiking, wakeboarding, and playing ice hockey.
Nathan Webster is currently a junior in the mechanical engineering department at University of Colorado Denver. He has both a passion for disciplines within the STEM community as well as a passion for working with kids, and he volunteers extensively with the youth ministry at his church. One of his biggest goals through completing a degree in mechanical engineering include working on projects that directly support any or all branches of the U.S. armed forces.
Bryan is currently pursuing an M.S. in Environmental Science. He spent 8 years in the U.S. Navy, including several years as a flight instructor.
York International School
Ryan is a mechanical engineering major who transferred to CU Denver last year. He has a tremendous passion for sharing STEM with younger generations, stemming from his first ourreach experience at STEMapalooza in 2009.
Jessica is a Toxicology PhD Candidate at UC Denver, Anschutz Medical Campus with bachelor's degrees in Chemistry and Biology and minors in mathematics and economics from Truman State University. Outside of academia, Jessica keeps busy with an active family life and community involvement, including extensive volunteer work with Denver Community Gardens.
Sam Stanton is a senior mathematics major who is hoping to pursue a doctorate in mathematics next fall. Sam is an officer in the CU Denver Math Club.
Littleton High School
Anna is mathematics major in her third year, and is extensively involved in leadership activities on campus. She is a member of the CU Denver student government, and is also a Peer Advocate Leader, working closely to mentor freshmen and help them get acclimated to CU Denver.
Katarina is a mathematics major at CU Denver with a minor in education. She is involved with many student organizations and clubs around campus. In addition to her outreach work through CSC, she also works as an outreach specialist at Apple and teaches technology, engineering and computer programming curricuka at several local schools.
Englewood Leadership Academy
Kristen is a mechanical engineering major with extensive experience bringing STEM to students of all ages. In the summer of 2016, she organized and led workshops for one of the local franchises of Engineering for Kids.
Shelly is a Ph.D. candidate in Neuroscience at the CU Denver|Anschutz Medical Campus. Sharing her love for science is something that she feels strongly about, and sees as a very important part of her career as a scientist. Prior to starting her doctoral work, Shelly worked as an engineer and provided STEM outreach through a number of organizations.
Bobby is pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering, after earning a B.S. degree in pyshiology from the University of Arizona and briefly pursuing a career as a professional football player. A proud "dinosaur nerd", he enjoys reading up on paleontology and is fascinated by biodiversity. He also enjoys camping, hiking, fishing and snowboarding.
